IDT Corporation, Hackensack, NJ, announced last week that it received licensing approval to provide voice and data switching services in Germany, the world's third largest telecommunication market. The agreement, which takes effect immediately, enables IDT to provide telecom services to wholesalers and retailers as well as offer carrier and direct dial technology, Internet telephony and pre-paid calling cards. IDT president Jim Courter cited the “rapid deregulation of the European telecom marketplace” as a key development in helping the company to expand its position as an international telecommunications operator. IDT currently provides telecom services in the United States and the UK. The company eventually plans a presence in Western Europe and the Pacific Rim.
